Another assistant gig with Pereira O’Dell/BarrelHouse. This was a a new spot in a series of amusingly existential, golf-related ads for Empower. Although I knew next to nothing about the great game of golf, I related deeply to this bewildered caddy, except I don’t have a retirement plan. This job was a hand-off, so a lead Editor and I were given the job of finishing these spots with a couple weeks left in the pipeline. I mainly did conform for this gig, getting all the mastering and finishing sorted out and prepping social crop.

In many ways, assistant editors are much like the caddies of the media world, aren’t they? Crucial and appreciated, not often known by name, always hovering around even if there isn’t much to do. However, I appreciate on the preverbal golf course of post-production, the caddie gets to putt it into the hole very once in a while, y’know?
